THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN PEARLS IS TO GIVE THEM A BATH IN WARM WATER.
IF THEY ARE REALLY DIRTY, YOU CAN ADD A MILD SOAP TO THE BATH BUT NOT DETERGENT. THEN ROLL THE PEARLS ON A SOFT TOWEL TO DRY BUT DON'T LET THEM RUB AGAINST EACH OTHER OR THEY'LL SCRATCH.

terrific thank you to bathe pearls is to wipe them with a mushy damp fabric. they're fragile and you like them to maintain their lustre. to guard them, blend some cool water and a "very" gentle cleansing soap and gently wash them - yet do not soak. stay away from soaps with ammonia or harsh chemical compounds and don't use baking soda or ultrasonic cleaners. sonic cleaners will crack your pearls. some human beings have steam wiped clean or boiled their pearls, undesirable thought. warm water will destroy them. dry your pearls thoroughly till now putting them returned. while drying, lay them on a dry fabric so as that they are able to maintain their shape - never enable them to charm to close dry. this habitual has helped my pearls proceed to look super. wish it facilitates you too.

You can find cleaner in stores that says safe for pearls. Check Wal-Mart and Target. Whatever you do, don't use vinegar! It will melt the pearls.

Catsup... I know it sounds silly but the Catsup has a very mild acid which will clean then without hurting their surface. Also Effordent, false teeth cleaner, once had a commercial that stated it was so gentle it would clean a string of pearls )

You do not want to use any kind of strong cleaner. I would let them sit in some dish liquid.

Swallow them and let your bodies natural juices and acids work away those stains and dry spots. Don't flush without a quick run through though.
Not really! I have no idea. I'm just trying to be a wise acre. Sounds good though doesn't it.

Children's toothpaste is second best to a jeweller.
If they are very precious to you, go to the jeweller: no short cuts.
