this can be answered in several different ways.

First, the very basic fourth grade version. One must line up the digits that are in the same placement, such as the ones place and tens place.
therefore,

300
+300

see how the 100s, 10s, and 1s are lined up?
now add vertically.
=600

we can view 300+300 as two like terms, and therefore combine them to make: 2(300) which is six hundred.

We can also use the Distributive Property
300=3x100,
therefore 3x100 +3x100
Combining like terms, (3+3)(100)=6(100)=600

We may also count on our fingers. I do not recommend this option. Toes may be required, and boredom may occur.

Scientific notation is also an option. The charat (^) is used to denote exponential values. Using the previous explanations, we understand that the answer is 600. 600 in scientific notation is 6x10^2

We may also use prime factorization for 600.
600= 3x200
3x200=3x2x100
3x2x100=3x2x4x25
3x2x2^2x5^2
=(2^3)x3x(5^2)
