2) Are you commited to figuring things out for yourself, even if that means 'dancing to the beat of your own drum'?

We're taught to be followers. How many of us refuse to play that role?

'Truth' that fails to transform the person and society at large is NOT Truth...imho :-)

I don't choose to 'think differently from society' -- I choose to think for MYSELF. Big difference there :-)

First off, I would like to thank my parents for allowing me to experience many different beliefs and religions. To answer the question, I think I dance to my own drum. My beliefs are a combination of pieces of many beliefs. I believe there is a higher power. I believe we should be good to ourselves and others. I believe we should respect nature and all she has to offer. I don't necessarily believe you have to go to church every Sunday, or give them 10% of your wages. I believe everyone has their own way of worship and prayer and long as you try to live a good life, be kind, and respectful of others, all will be just fine. It all boils down to.. don't kill, don't steal, honor you parents, and most of all BE GOOD!!! Hate only accomplishes disaster.. Love make the world go 'round!!

Truth that fails to transform is not Truth at all. The Bible clearly states, multiple times, that society and the world are NOT full of Truth.

I am committed to learning all I can on my own. When I hit a bump I cannot get over, then I seek help from those teachers I trust (because I have found what they say to be true basked on what I already know is true). Christians are told to learn for ourselves, but not to cut ourselves off from other believers because we can also learn from each other.

A bit of both, I don't think you can truly be one or the other. We establish beliefs from the time we are born. Its instilled in us by our parents, friends, television, music, everything. However to find out/figure out something on your own is an incredible experience. But we are all independent and followers at different times. Ask yourself this..... Is it not a belief if you choose to be different from society?

This can be a little of both. For past events, I either recall past experience and stick to my answer unless otherwise shown or for real historical look up trusted sources. It all depends on knowledge.

For beliefs, I go with my instincts. To answer a whether or not question must be trusted on your own feelings and not the crowd. We should never play up to the masses.

I think you always have to keep an open mind. So what trusted sources tell you may be worth listening to, but then think about it, and accept what seems to be true to you. But find out more about and question that which raises doubts according to the person you are and the way you lead your life.

Trust BUT verify, and it has been said about people in general that until you know yourself your thinking for a fool. There are leaders, followers and actualizers.

Defintely the latter. You can usually tell if you are thinking outside the box if you go back to your previous posts and people have clicked the "thumbs down" sign, lol!

i like to consider myself as a free lance follower of christ, because no matter what someone says or do,everyones religion is different from what everyone else believes anyway, and then they say this is a cult and so on.i think that when you get to be a certain age it is your choice what you believe in, besides God is the one that gave us a free choice anyways to believe or not.
