I completly disagree w/ you. You are right about every1 will and does hear language in there life. But at that age people are not to be allowed to make decitions about what they are exposed to. have you parents buy you the tickets before hand if they don't have a problem w/ the comtent of the movie. Thats what i would do.

Theaters are not necessarily required to honor a film's rating however, the parents would freak out and theater owners wouldn't risk losing the big bucks.

No.. It's fine as it is at 17. If a parent wants their child to see a rated R movie they just buy them a ticket or rent the movie for them. And if they don't that way they have control over it, at least mostly.

I think age is not a good judgement of the mental maturity needed for an R rated movie, and I think that the rating system is lousy anyway.

No.
By definition the average 15 year olds simply aren't mentally and emotionally prepared for it.
Are some? Maybe, but testing for it would prove a bit impractical.
Relax, you've got your whole adulthood to rot your brain.

If you want your child to see a moive that is R go to movie with them... there is no doubt that some kids are more mature than others but hey it should be up to the parent!
