I have a '99 VW Passat, and my tail light went out on my car. When I turn on my tail light at night, only the passenger side lights up. The signal light and the brake like work on that side, but not the tail light. It's not the bulb, because I replaced all the bulbs. The light circuit board is okay. I switched them out and it works fine on the other side. I don't to pay some horrible amount just to fix this one little light. So any suggestions?

Look for melting of the contacts inside the bulb holder make sure the bulb has the same number of filiments. Also note sometime people put bulb grease into the bulbs socket. Clean out any grease with automotive brake cleaner spray and spray away from the car or into a old towel. Then give the contacts a good look you can also check for power with a test light with only the running lights on. New tail-light pig tails are available to repair the bulb holder from Volkswagon. Most of the time you will see right away melted contacts
