A while back I finally gave in and did anal but now he expects it to be a regular part of our relationship. We have sex 4 to 5 times a week which is great but now he thinks we should do anal every other time.

You are asking two different questions:
1) How much is too much ? You have too much of anything when it interfers with your normal daily life. Too much sex, too much drinking, too much food, whatever.
2) Anal sex every other time? If you are okay with it, then it is a non issue. If you are not okay with it, and your partner does not respect and honor that, then you have a problem.

Your problems are bigger than the bedroom they are happening in. You are failing to communicate. You didn't say whether you have told him how you feel. I think you should tell him you don't enjoy it. If he's any kind of a man, he won't want to do it to you knowing you don't enjoy it.
If you really want to try to please him by doing this, then you guys need to work on communicating, making sure he knows how to be gentle and to recognize when you are uncomfortable. And use lots and lots of lube.
When a man receives anal, his prostate is stimulated and it can be very pleasurable. So the suggestion that you do it to him is not a trite one. Get a strap-on and play around with it. If he refuses, then he should understand why you don't want it. Anyway, you shouldn't do it if you don't want to. And don't forget to be very careful about transferring germs or you'll end up with a nasty infection and both ports will be out of order.
As to how much is too much, which is the original question, it should be like show business. Always leave them wanting more. How much that is depends on the two of you, but if you regularly have sex 4-5 times a week, it's doubtful that anyone is "wanting more". well if u dont like anal, then let him know. dont do it if ur not comfortable with it. dont just "give in" when ur not really excited about it. sex should be something both ppl enjoy and are comfortable with.
also, have u tried using a vibrator (on ur clit) while doing anal? it feels alot better cuz it makes u more relaxed and u would enjoy it alot more.
You may find it pleasurable for both of you if u just know how to do it right.

My personal opinion I feel sex is great but when a person wants to have sex EVERYDAY it gets old honey. Your stuff gets wore out. If he can't respect that you want a day off from anal or vaginal then cut him loose.

There is no limit on how much you can, but there is a limit on how much someone can want it. As far as anal, its your choice. If you like it go for it, if not then don't. If you son't mind it but do not want to do it all the time then don't, and if he presses the issue after you say no tell him to reverse roles and see how he likes it.

I told a boyfriend of mine one day... I was okay to try anal sex.. as long as it was okay for him to receive it.. that I would buy a dildo.. and ...... of course.. he never troubled me again about it.. maybe you should mention it to him...

SORRY BUT I DON'T BELEIVE IN ANAL SEX. THERE IS JUST NO PLEASURE IN IT AT ALL FOR ME.

Depending on you, you decide what is do much sex. I think that you should let him know how you feel. And let him know that it doesn't have to be done every time you have sex. Once in a while is okay.
