Yes, you will like the movie. I am not a Johnny Cash fan, but I love Joaquin Phoenix and all his movies. I loved this movie!! It is one of my faves---by the way Joaquin and Reese actually do all the singing in the movie.
For the post that said it was San Quentin--it was Folsom Prison.

If you don't like Johhny Cash's music it will not be possible to enjoy Walk the Line. Although Joaquin (and Reese) gives an excellent performance, the music and finding the muse to create the music, is an essential part of the movie. Maybe after viewing, you might gain an appreciation for the music even if you continue to dislike it.

I didn't like Johnny Cash's music much until I saw WtL with Joaquin, actually. If you give the movie a chance, you just might change your mind(Joaquin has a good singing voice and Reese isn't bad. I thought it was impressive that they did their own singing.) There is plenty of acting to counter the music, anyway, if you don't like it. Hope you enjoy it though.

The movie has a wonderful storyline. It isn't entirely dependent on the music. The music is there to complement the story as it would be hard to make a story about a musician without playing music!
It's a great movie - give it a chance. If you do watch it you'll have to update us and say if you like it.
I love the scene when Jun and Johnny are in bed together and he's eating peanuts. I also like the scene where June gets mad and throws beer bottles. Those who have seen the movie will know what I mean.

Yes rent it. Joaquin and Reese are excellent in this movie. Despite your hatred for Johnny Cash, you will LOVE this movie. Enjoy.

Seeing that the movie is about Johnny Cash and you don't like his music I would not rent it.
there are actors that I like but won't rent certain movies just because they are in them.
I don't think it would be a good idea and you would only be wasting your time and money.
Rent a movie that you will enjoy.

I didn't think I'd like the movie, but it was a good one. Both Reese and Joaquin did a good job on it too.

I don't know what kind of movies you like. I liked Walk the Line and after watching it I liked his music more than I did before.
