Probably he can prescribe you something to take before you go for the visit. That will relax you. It is done quite often. Just call and tell him your fear. They will make you an appointment to prescribe the medication and then another one to do your dental work on another day. Don't worry they are used to this.

Some people have that fear. It happens.

The dentist doesn't hurt! They can numb pain! They have a way to take x-rays that is easier now too.
The eye doctor is what you should be afraid of! They shine lights into your eyes and make you read line after line of stuff until you can't see anymore to read it! Then they give you glass to put over your eyes or in your eyes if you don't pass the test.
So calm down about this. Most people go at least once a year...

If you have a good dentist then there isn't anything to be afraid of. I used to loathe going to the dentist, but since I found a good one it's no big deal. Make sure you are comfortable and if you feel any pain let the dentist know so he can give you another shot - you shouldn't be in any type of pain during a dental procedure.

What are you going to the dentist for? If it is just for a check-up tell yourself that it's like brushing your teeth and flossing, but a bit longer. Tell yourself it won't hurt at all (it won't), and that you need it to keep your teeth white.

If it is for something big like a route canal, take a deep breath and walk into the clinic. The faster you get it over with, the sooner you can leave. Bring two tennis balls or stress balls, or even better your partner, and squeeze the balls or his hand every time it hurts; it helps take your mind off the pain. Remember to take deep breaths, and close your eyes if the tools scare you.

I was that way too. I had 4 teeth removed all at once some were impacted, I was put to sleep, but I never felt any pain EVER except the roof of my mouth, that was it. You will be fine, I know it is scary for you but you are vesting too much in this, it will be fine you will see. They do numb your mouth you know, and numb it before the needle part. It will be great and you will feel silly about this after you are done I promise. Just breathe............

Just remind yourself that he/she is there to help you. I have the same problam. The dentist totally fraks me out! But...after a little, it goes away and I realize how chilidish I'm being. They wouldn't be a dentist if they weren't good at what they do. And besides...they numb your mouth, and you can feel a thing.

Call the office and let them know how afraid you are, they will sometimes prescribe something to take before you go in that will relax you, or you can ask for nitrous when you get there

Well, if they are just doing normal stuff it shouldn't be too bad. If they are doing fillings or anything like that they'll give you something for the pain. Tell the doctor how you feel. Take some music and headphones.
