I'm having a marilyn monroe party .... any ideas?

Hmm, how about the obvious things for starters, like posters, pictures, cardboard cut outs or other items that portray Marilyn Monroe. For the basic color scheme I would decorate in gold and maybe silver... or even red. Then background decorations like maybe the Hollywood sign or cut outs of the letters instead. You could also try to find things that remind you of Hollywood or that era. Like maybe have "walk of fame" stars either taped on the floor or the would make really cute place cards for seating arrangements. Also decorate with film reels... maybe print some out and laminate them and use them as cute coasters for drinks. You could hang stars on the ceiling or other places around the room. You could also take red lipstick and put nice big kisses on flat surfaces (somewhere it won't smear on anyone or fabrics). Also you could set up small scale spot lights for anyone you want to be the guest of honor or something like that. You could also tack a piece of red material or carpeting from the front door to emulate the red carpet. On a door, wall, or ever as a tablecloth use some paper (posterboard or butcher paper depending upon what you would use it for) and get guests to sign their autographs and leave messages to the host. You could serve a buffet of cheese & crackers, caviar, miniature quiche, small cookies, etc on the dining room table and have centerpieces of red roses with gold and silver pieces. If you're guests are old enough you can have champagne to drink . That's all I can think of for now but sounds like fun. I love these coming up with creative ideas for parties!! :)

O wow - sounds like a ton of fun!!! Show Marilyn Monroe movies, of course - that's an essential! Serve 50s & 60s inspired cocktails & snacks - check out local flea markets for serving dishes that look "cool" from that era. There's a place in Tappahannock VA that has a lifesized MM statue on its front porch in the classic Seven Year Itch pose - you could buy that & have it at the party! lol Have the ladies at the party dress like Marilyn, I dunno about the men - they could come as her husbands/boyfriends maybe. Check on=line & see if anyone has posters of MM you could put on the walls - maybe check out some photo books from the library & open them to pix of her.
Maybe make a drink that's in her memory - call it Some Like It Hot cocktail & make it with cinnamon schnapps!! The Misfits martini, even!! Sounds like fun - have a blast!!!

p.s. - I know - have a contest & see who can sing Happy Birthday Mr President the sexiest!!! That would be the ultimate - then award them a MM prize pack or something cool!!!!

How about placing fan or such in away that depicts the scene from her movie with her dress blowing in the wind. (actually from standing on subway vent) Everyone with plantinum hair, watch some old marilyn movies on turner classic or rent and get good ideas from them eg Some Like it Hot etc Have Fun...

put a lot of stars around, make everybody dress up old hollywood, research marilyn is read about the things that she liked, put up pictures of her old boyfriends and husbands, posters of her films, things like that
