help.....income support?

if you claim income support and receive 17 pounds a week maintenance for your child,can this be stopped from your benefit or would it be treated like earnings where you can earn up to 20 pounds a week before you lose money?

you will need to check that out as it is an income based benefit, any personal income is taken into account you will have advise the jobcentre of the income and they will tell you what happens/
though as the amount is less than a weeks income support it is highly unlikely you would lose all your benefits, the reduced rate will take effect from the week of your first payment if they do reduce your money, so telling them as soon as possible would minimise any repayment of monies they think you were not entitled to

It's classed as an income. You can receive £20 a week and no stoppages will be made. You should declare it to the social when applying for Income support though, cover yourself.

Simple, Yes. You need to declare any incoming money or finances that are not counted for within your benefit entitlement. They will then decide how much to reduct from your income pay-out.

If you decide not to declare, then you could be punished for benefit fraud which usually carrys a heavy penalty fine or imprisonment.

in the usa child suport is reported but NOT counted as earned income
for tax puposes
but for assistance from gov agencies it all counts

Hi,thats what people fail to understand they take off family allowance so yes they will grab the maintenance unless you can keep it quiet.
