Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there is actually a "veterinary medicine" major at some colleges/universities...

There are no specifically required undergraduate majors to apply to vet school in the United States - one of my classmates had a bachelors in fashion design. So long as you complete the pre-requisite courses, you can apply to vet school. However, the majority of vet school applicants major in biology, chemistry, animal science or a related field since the list of pre-requisite classes are pretty close to the list of core classes for these majors at most colleges...!!!

Veterinary medicine is a graduate school degree. So a specific undergrad degree isn't required. I think most though, would highly recommend biology.
The person below mentions joining the Army - there are Veterinarians in the military - and the Army would pay for your College - both undergrad and Vet school!
Cheers!
Oh - and if you can't get into Vet school - there is always Med school.

There are a few fields to think about .
You have to think on what type of Vet you would like to become. This meaning what you want to do as a Vet. Surgeon;Nutritionist;Regular Doctor; { Blank} Specialist.
You should take anatomy{this will lead you to other anatomies like bird;dog; cow; etc.}
There are many more but that is the only one that I'm sure of.
Hope I was of some help!

Many schools have a Veterinary Medicine major. A great one is here in Virginia at Virginia Tech. See the link below. Even if you don't want to go to Virginia Tech, it will give you an idea of the program.

probably something along the lines of zoology, biology...something like that...I don't know if there is an actual pre-vet curriculum like there is with medicine and law and all that. Do some research with different universities and see what the requirements are to enter into the program.

You should major in some sort of animal sciences. However, you will also need practical experience so you should work with animals either in a volunteer or employment capcity. If you are still in high school you can also join FFA (Future Farmers of America) to get experience with animals.

I would suggest that knowledge of animal anatomy is crucial . So, carrying that thought, you should aim for any major specializing in that field. I'm sorry I can't be more specific but I'm unfamiliar with that discipline. Try asking a pet store associate. They could give better advice.
