"It is absolutely safe to say that if you meet somebody who claims not to believe in evolution, that person is ignorant, stupid or insane (or wicked, but I'd rather not consider that)."

I wish that I could give it to you, but it cannot be accurate regardless. Willful ignorance would mean ignoring current evidence that something is true. The fact of the matter is that there is not any proof of any kind that comes even close to strongly substantiating the claims of evolutionist theory. The ignorance is in those that hold to evolution regardless of the evidence against it and the lack of evidence for it. Creationists have just as little evidence really, but at least they do not claim to have concrete evidence or claim to have have found evidence that turns up to be fake anyway. Though I hold more witht he creationist side, both are somewhat flawed because both are man-made conceptualizations of something that happened before the creators of the conceptualizations existed.

I dunno the quote, but until they can explain butterflies and panda bears, I'm on the side of Intelligent Design. There's just too much diversity and too many oddities to believe that it all started with primordial ooze. Besides, where'd the ooze come from in the first place? There are elements of evolution that make sense, that things evolve over time, but it doesn't come close to explainting how it all started. If cells decided they needed to grow wings and fly (and how'd they figure that out anyway?), why doesn't man have wings? We want to fly, too.

"By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out." - Richard Dawkins

I love Dawkins. I disagree with some of his athiest views, but on many points he is dead on, and on matters of biology, he is a brilliant master of his subject. Sometimes I think he's a bit harsh on people who deny evolution ...

BUT then ... I read posts like "The fact of the matter is that there is not any proof of any kind that comes even close to strongly substantiating the claims of evolutionist theory."

No proof "of *any* kind"? ... "not even close"??? I guess the fossil evidence of species correlated exactly by dating of the strata (palenontology, radiography, stratigraphy, etc.); and morphological similarities between related species; homologous structures; vestigial structures; atavisms; genetic commonalities; molecular clocks that correspond precisely with fossil dating; the geographic distribution of species (biogeography); embryological evidence (ontogeny); DNA redundancy; protein redundancy; etc, etc, etc; none of it "even close"? None of it counts as proof "of any kind"?

You've just proved that Dawkins' statements ... harsh as they are ... are exactly correct.

"You cannot be both sane and well educated and disbelieve in evolution. The evidence is so strong that any sane, educated person has got to believe in evolution."

I am not sure, but it should be like "The belief is the root of ignorant." Because you can't question the belief.
