Should've thought that over a little better... ;)
If you take it out now, it'll heal over- depending on how long you plan to leave it out.
Your doctor will DEFINITELY notice it- its right in his line of sight. Get ready for a little lecture from him as well.

I'm not against piercings- my best friend is a piercer; but you also need to be careful of what you're doing when you get it. You'll need to take care of your mouth even more now; you've got something very prone to infection in there. Trying to get the appointment cancelled would not be a good idea.
Your best bet is to just fess up to your parents on it... better it to be you telling them than the doctor.

I wouldn't take it out. If you don't want your mom to find out then just ask the orthodontist to not say anything. They are professionals. When you are able to change your tongue ring they have plastic barbells which I would recommend. They are easier on your teeth and they also have clear ones. This would make it easier to hide from your mom if you still want to.

if you JUST got it done and you take it out then it will fill in and you will have just wasted your money. your orthodontist isn't a moron though, and will still see that there is a hole in your toung...i'll bet they've seen a tongue peircing before. just say you dont want your parents to know... its patient doctor confidentiality, legally he cant tell.

I have mine pierced and it's fine but don't take it out until it heals or it will close and you'll have to do the whole painful process over again

It doesn't matter if you take it out or not, your mom will find out, and it will be very obvious to the orthodontist.

the docter cant say anything..there's something called patient confidentiality, that unless someone or thing is harming you, he/she can't say **** to your mom...the most he can do is lecture u..dont take it out if u really want it, the toungue heals fast!! you might not get it back in, waste of money.

If you are grown enough to get your tounge pierced, you are grown up enough to face your mom and tell her the truth. Leave it in!
