if you're asking what your question is from, then I think it's Pinky and the Brain.

"Are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
"I think so Brain, but if Jimmy cracks corn and nobody cares, then why does he keep doing it?"

Jimmy Cracks Corn

Its from an 1800s song: Blue Tail Fly.

The chorus is the line you're referring to here, but the rest of the song is about a slave's master or overseer dying or going away. So the slave (Jimmy) is drinking whisky (cracking corn) and celebrating.

in case you knew Jimmy you does no longer be asking this question... He would not supply a flying damn what human beings care about.... He has a interest to do... and, he does it..... Now, if he were to give up.... I make certain that there could be quite a few those which could care..... His freaking boss, for one !! ? ////

I'd think the real question would be, if "I don't care", why I'd keep singing the blasted song. Ahhh, first grade flashbacks. . .

In the song, it's because his lover's gone away.
