When I shave or wax (I've tried both), my skin is so fair that you can actually see little red spots NOT from razor burn (no irritation) but from the vein/artery associated w/ the hair follicle. So my skin is white w/ a mottled appearance. Mostly on the front of my lower leg and certain other areas that shall remain nameless!

Tanning just doesn't work for me, and I don't really want an orange cream (sunless tanner). I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem. My grandmother calls it the "Irish curse." (I thought that was freckles, I have that too :))

Cheers!

Lather before you shave that helps. A good shaving cream or oil. Oil is messy though.

Get the Vaseline sunless build a tan for fair skin its not orange and does not turn orange, its about 5 bucks. I have red hair and very fair skin and I love it. Soak in a WARM bath tub for about 15 minutes before shaving,Use shaving cream for sensitive skin, and after you are done put Johnson baby lotion on your legs, and other places we wont mention. This should help with razor burn. And please use a good razor! Good luck, and best wishes! From your freckled friend. PS its not a curse, people try to look like us because we are beautiful and different, exotic. Wink wink.

I will start off and say that I am male. I have both Scotch and Irish in me and I have the same problem. If it wasn't for my freckels I'd be a white as white can be. My stomach is nearly blinding considering how white it is. I also have an aversion to the sun. I never tan, I just burn to super bright red. Burn and peel is the way for me. As for shaving I look like I've been attacked with a dull razor every time.

I feel your pain.

I use a little little triple antibiotic cream after shaving or waxing those areas that get razor bumps- I also use a Gilette Intuition razor with the shave cream built in, works great for me.

Also, add my Irish flat pug nose to the list of Irish curse things, I burn, and freckle, too. I think it's what makes me unique, and I kind of like mine :-)

It happens to me too. My family does come from Ireland- and England. I found that its sometimes the harshness of the water that does it.
