it's now a law, you must report it, what if it was the other way around, and somebodys pay was decreased, i say "good luck".

Not necessarily..... Is the receiving spouse reporting when their pay gets increased so the child support is lowered. I think not. Just because someone gets a raise doesn't mean that it cost more for the child. I am a wife who receives child support.

I'm afraid the leagl answer is yes.....BUT... I don't think it should be increased unless there is a good reason (medical expenses, etc). I pay about $1100 a month to a woman who makes more than I do. Being in the military, much of my take home pay is in the form of allowances for things like housing, cost of living and it's based on the state of Alaska where expences (heating oil alone is a bear) are quite high..... Yet the state where the kids are located is much cheaper to live in. So most of the money I get to live in the Arctic goes to a woman who is in a more affordable area. I think the Military guys get the shaft more than others because of this. Basically ....... the balance has been shifted too much in the direction of ex-wives because of what people like my mother never got. Pretty messed up, huh?

wow, didn't know that. boy, that is tough. you gotta do what ya gotta do. just remember the child is the one that benefits from this. sorry it is hard on you. sometimes i think the entire support system needs to be reevaluated by some outside source to see if there is a better way to help families with children.

my mom got $15.00 a week for 2 kids back in the 70's. that was still not much. I could have gotten more for child support but when I saw the chart I said i would work another job then have him and his wife not be able to live in their home because of what the courts have decided if fair for all. so he had his kid on weekends so i could scrub floors and he has a nice family and the Lord will bless me one day for being nice and not asking for much here on earth. Good luck to ya :)

In most states child support has always been calculated on a percentage of your total income. And yes, you were responsible for reporting any pay increases and decreases. In our state, it's also dependent on the ex-spouses income... so if they get a pay raise, the amount of child support can actually go down!

see how most the women say yes its because they are getting most of it very few men have women paying them i say no mom can work 2 y do i have 2 pay her more because i get a raise and i deserve it when she does nothing but get food stamps and the money from me ( this is true story by the way ) she even tried 2 get it raised and i did not no until i got a letter from them saying that they denied her i work y can my life not improve when she wont work to improve her own that not my fault and should not have to pay the ex for her better life cuz face it every one n=knows not all the money goes to the children women think we owe them but the money is supposed to be for the kids

If your salary increases then your child support does the same. But why would you not want to pay more when its going to your children?

Yes you want to provide the best for your kid/s, if your pay is decreased then it should be the same way.

Answer your question by answering this. Does it magically now cost more to raise the child/children? NO! Why then should it be increased?!

I don't think it should. You are already helping out the other person will get raises and that should be enough. They take too much from absent parents I think. So many absent parents are finding it hard to make ends meet because of that.
