To be honest the most I knew about Gay folks before this Yahoo Answers existed on a dvd I didn't want to see or one that I've seen. I think it's that way for a lot of us straight folks. Anyways what do you think in that regard?

I do not think that pornography affects the gay community in the manner you are suggesting.

Stereotypes are not perpetuated as a result of porn. Although porn may created for target 'audiences', the types of men in gay porn vary as much as do the types of men within the gay community. Just like as with any group or community of people, there are individuals of every possible variation.

This kind of thinking all starts with the fact that American society has a hang up about sex in general...sex is dirty, sex is bad, it's a sin and so on. It's an interesting way of thinking since most of the country is having or will have sex at some point in their life - if it's so horrible why do it?. If you choose to educate yourself on homosexuals via gay porn you have made a mistake....should I educate myself on heterosexuals via straight porn or strip clubs? Probably not. Being gay is not just about sex. I do think people have some sort of stigma about gays because of the "sex" part of it though. Being homosexual is not a lifestyle. We live all sorts of lifestyles (poor, rich, single, partnered, - some of us have families and are raising kids in the suburbs and some live in the city or on a farm. If you want to really know more about people that are different than you - don't turn to porn for the answer. There is a lot more to a gay human being other than whom they love and have intimate relations with.

Pornography is a given in human society. The Gutenburg press was first used to produce broadsheet porn -- some time before it produced the Gutenburgh Bible. It is the nature of humanity.

I know not one single male, straight or gay, regardless of socio-economic class, that does not enjoy porn. That includes people who are professing fundamentalists. You just have to look deeply enough.

I don't think porn is unnatural or evil -- or even a little strange, and I can't imagine that anyone else who would be open to not hating to begin with, ever would.

Why would strait people be watching gay porn or picking up gay magazines....

Unless there's an interest in it ...sex is a very small part of being gay like its a very small part of being heterosexual.

I think if people judge one part of society by the magazines they see and flick through, then that's a pretty sad state of humanity.

it does seem that America is going backwards these days ,we will be back to censorship yet .

and in reading over your previous questions....

Maybe its time for you to put down the magazines and actually get involved matey the right man could solve all this for you .....s.hit the wrong man probably could too....lol

You can only stay shelf paper in the closet of life for so long babe ...enjoy!

I think the church is the big reason why people are ignorant about not taking gay people seriously. What they don't understand is that most gay people are gay by NATURE - not by choice. Church people don't believe that nature works that way. BUT IT DOES for many people. Nature DOES attract two women or two men together. Not all human beings fall for the opposite sex. That is just a fact. And YES gay people fall deeply, hopelessly in love like Romeo & Romeo, Juliet & Juliet. Tristan&Tristan, Isolde&Isolde!! Ignorance isn't controlled by porn.

Considering the preponderance of straight porn, and prostitution, should I therefore not consider straight people to have a serious lifestyle? Your anti-gay bias is evident in this "question."

Consider also the 'christians' who say we LGBT people "never have serious, long-lasting relationships," and then go out and campaign against gay marriage, i.e. long-lasting relationships. What hypocrites! What hatred!

Why not try tolerance, justice, love and understanding for a change? WWJD?

Well, porn plays a role in all of our lives whether you're gay or straight. I don't know why most folks think that all we(LGBT community)think about is sex. Sex is apart of anyone who is beautifully human, no matter what your preference is. What about folks who watch Girls Gone Wild, any porn dealing with Snoop Dogg, Hustler, and the sort. Most folks really need to check themselves and worry about what's going in their lives(and in the bedroom)rather than worry about someone else. Porn is everywhere, no matter who you are or do. With that in mind, 'nuff said.

gee I don't think so....not anymore than I think porn plays a role in us taking the straight "lifestyle" seriously.
I think you need to meet and get to know more gay people. portrayals on tv/movies is, a lot of the time, greatly exaggerated and stereotyped.

no more so than for the straight people. Porn is porn.

Dude, you seriously ask a LOT of gay questions - I mean a LOT. Why do you think that is?

I think if anyone really believes that porn is a valid way to learn about gay people, they aren't worth the time to educate. That's just goofy.
