Why do some people believe in this?

Think about a horoscope....every person born this month will have the exact same personality. And when September comes, every single person born in that month will have the same personality....and so forth. How much sense does it really make?

To the rude arrogant people who responded, obviously I don't know anything about this I was just asking a question!

How about an answer from someone who is logical rather than rude. The simple truth is that Horoscopes are nothing more than a trick of words. If people read ALL of them for that day, week, month, etc. they will find that something in ALL of them will hit home. I, personally, am a Taurus, according to astrology. While my profile fits, so do all the others. It is really just wording that makes them so believeable. The right word in the right place is what makes people so easy to turn into believers. It is something that is designed to attract attention and keep it. Some extremists are even addicted due to having been totally sucked in. It makes no sense to those of us who can see through the blatant scam. It really is nothing but a scam and unfortunately way too many people spend their hard earned money on the rubbish! besides, if they were real and truely spoke of your real life for the day...you'd think that on the day of your death yours would read "You are going to die today." They do NOT. All of that stuff, horoscopes, Psychics, etc., are masters of word games and nothing more. They actually go to school to learn how to play the game. None of it is real. It is strictly stupid entertainment that too many nieve and ignorant people take as gospel. Hope this answers your question better than the others did.

You are more than just your Sun sign. You have a Moon and all the rest of the planets. You have an Ascendant (mask, approach to the world) and a Midheaven (reputation, status).

Your Natal chart is based upon date, place and exact time of birth, not just date of birth.

What is the Eastern/Western hemisphere emphasis?

What aspect patterns do you have in your chart: grande trine, kites, grand square, t-square, yods, mystic rectangles, grand sextile, etc.

Do you have Mutual Recepetion in your chart?

Is there an unaspected planet? An elevated planet? Where is the chart ruler in the chart and what aspects does it make?

Are there any intercepted planets and/or signs in the chart? Are there linked houses in the chart?

What signs are on each of the 12 house cusps? Where are the planetary rulers of each house placed and what aspects do they make?

I think it's a valid question. As with any idea, the more you buy into it, the more you give it credence. I've often had an idea to take a certain sign of the zodiac and on a certain day, compile all the horoscopes for that sign on that day and see if there is ANY correlation between various horoscope predictions.

some people just like something to believe in. and your statement is kind of like judging a book from it's cover.
i don't live my live according to what those things say, but for some reason there are some basic truths that seem to parallel a persons life. perhaps it just helps one keep an open mind to things which could happen?
you should read more about it so you will know what they are talking about. it can be really fun, especially if they are doing your personal Natal chart....and if you do have one done just give them the basic facts and see how close they come to describing your life and what you are like. if they get close you may develop a deeper appreciation for what they are trying to say.
Lets face it, the ancients had a lot of time on their hands. no TV, no radio, no Internet....they observed the heavens and noticed more subtle things than we do. now we get our news condensed shoved in our faces in bold print or graphically depicted on TV. there is less thought or deeper speculation on what is going on behind the day to day struggles we all face.
