I know this is going to sound completely ridiculous to some, given the hype and popularity of the 'Lord of the Rings' movies in the last few years it might appear as though I'm hopping on the bandwagon, but I have loved J.R.R.Tolkein's 'Lord of the Rings' since before the movies were made.

There are so many reasons... I'm way too stinking tired to go into them now, but anyway... (three nights in a row with pretty much NO sleep, right now all I can think to say is, "Just because it's cool man. Yeah... I want a ring that makes ME invisible. I named my cat Samwise... Now... where's my precious?")...

I am just going to list amazing books that everyone should read:
Pride and Prejudice (kinda girly but a great story)
Catcher in the Rye
The Great Gatsby
Crime and Punishment (boring at first but gets alot better)
The Notebook
The Lovely Bones (recent best seller...best book in a long time)

There are that many books I like but my favourite classics are by Kafka I like his Trial and Metamorphosis, my favourite American books are Light in August by Faulkner and The Great Gatsby, but I think that the book of books is The Tin Drum by Gunther Grass, a classic about Germany before, during and after WW II. I studied German and we had to read that book. My friends and I used to discuss the book for hours, retell our favourite.
BTW Owen, Pride and Prejudice and Crime and Punishment were written in the 19 c.

The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger, great story, great writing, great cover (not that it really matters that much).
