Well of course they are. Ballet dancers though should probably get them in places that they can be easily hidden or makeuped over.

if there are policies stating otherwise, no. but i've been dancing for years and i have two tattoos quite big on my back, and they're obviously shown in alot of costumes (just leotards and they can be seen).

if there is a need to cover up, lots of powder (foundation) does the trick for me.

if you really want a tattoo, and you're in an organization, just ask, it won't hurt to.
preferably, get one somewhere you can cover up. but if you really are set on getting something specific, just find out all the possible consequences first. =))

well, no one can not allow you to do something to your body, however... they can make you cover it up.

there are plenty of makeups sold for tattoo cover ups.

I as a dancer got my tattoo in a place that I knew would not be seen with any costume i might wear... just less hassle

Depends on the club owner and/or the Written Policy/Code of Conduct as it appears in the Employee handbook. If one isn't made available, you may have rights, depending upon what state you live in.

Sometimes for latin I have a fake tattoo put on like if I have a really low backed or backless costume, they will put a temporary tat on the lower part of my back as part of my "look".

Yup, but it'd be best to get them in a place where they are less visible, due to costumes/tutus and stuff.
