you need to contact your wireless carrier and tell them that you are going away on a trip and they can probably change your plan and/or roaming capabilities. I did this when my husband and I went away on our honeymoon so we could have international calling available.

Go to the settings on the phone then go to roaming and click on home area only. Some phones are different and dont have this option so you might need to contact the carrier or the manufacturer of the phone.

Well, roaming is network and carrier dependent. All carriers allow you to roam, you just have to keep an eye on your phone's display. If it says ROGERS, then you're roaming on Rogers Wireless. It's not really rocket science, just keep your eye on the provider tag.

It's true, most phones have a home only mode on them. I would check with your wireless carrier and see if they can walk you though on how to set that up on your phone.

check on the phone for a menu called "Restrict Calls", you should have an option to restrict the incoming calls when roaming
