Ya if you have had your permit for 6 months without going and getting your license you have to go to the secretary of state and renew your permit. When i went i had to retake the written test and then pay a small fee and then they gave me a new permit! On your permit at the bottom there should be a date where it expires. GOOD LUCK!

You can renew your permit at your local DMV or if you're lucky, by mail. If you need to go into the DMV, take a book and get ready for a long wait!

In most states you can renew your learner's permit until you pass your driver's test but there may be limits. After that, you have to renew your driver's license
