Madonna is a very interesting and complex person. When I was much younger I fell in love with the sound of her singing voice. After that I couldn't get her picture on the "You Can Dance" album cover out of my head. It was so crazy that I decided to write a fan letter. I distinctly remember asking if we could be friends. Hey, I was only 13 and didn't know anything about what celebrities will and will not do for their fans. But at the time I was determined to try to find the real Madonna underneath all the outlandish costumes, makeup, and religious and sexual controversies.
Well, I waited and my letter was never answered so I said, "Fuhgeddaboutit" and then I swore off Madonna for good.
Fifteen years later, I found "The Immaculate Collection" at my local library and brought it home just to hear what it sounds like, and the liner notes inside basically say that so many people like to talk about the latest trouble she's gotten herself into, but not many people talk about her music.
The answer I had been looking for finally appeared last year when I bought several of my favorite albums of hers, including Something to Remember. Inside the label there is a note from the Lady herself, which reads:
"So much controversy has swirled around my career this past decade that very little attention ever gets paid to my music. The songs are all but forgotten. While I have no regrets regarding the choices I've made artistically, I've learned to appreciate the idea of doing things in a simpler way. So without a lot of fanfare, without any distractions, I present to you this collection of ballads. Some are old, some are new. All of them are from my heart."
Madonna has taught me to learn to see her as a serious musical artist and not just one of the queens of pop or an attention craving diva.

Her new album is some of the best stuff she's ever done!!! It's an awesome album. I like most of her stuff, but some of it sucks. Regardless, I have to respect her because she constantly re-invents herself. In 50 years people will remember the Beatles, Metallica, Elvis, Madonna, etc. She's an icon of rock music. Who will remember Britney Spears or N-Sync or Good Charlotte? Hahah...they will be just like the New Kids On The Block.

Yeah I agree, she is washed up and needs to retire and worry about her lil daughter.
She is a has been, and the whole thing she did in Italy about wanting to be crucified on the cross in one of her concerts to spite the Pope well is just plain tacky and I think had nothing to do with music.

I believe in always stating the positives, so I'll do that with Madonna. She's a brilliant marketing manipulator.

I think Madonna is a entertainer, and no one should seriously consider any thing she says.
She puts obscene things in her music videos, for the world to see, but wont let her daughter watch T.V.
She saying its not okay for my daughter to see things that aren't
wholesome, but as for everyone else's children, I'll see how dirty I can be on T.V. before I get censored.
Sorry for the rant, but it annoys me how she dose that.
But I guess she's just trying to make money.

'Hung Up' was a great song. The album however absolutely sucked. And now she is doing lots of religious things that are making people angry. In my opinion, her time is over. She had best quit while she's ahead.

Madonna Ciccone looks better now in her forties than she did in her twenties. I still dislike her singing though.

I think she was hot at one time and now she needs to sit back relax and just be a memory. She's trying too hard to stay on top.
