I disagree with the idea that if you smoke one cigarette you're addicted. Alot of people try smoking once, and never do it again. I think if you have an adictive personality you're deffinatly more likely to become addicted, but I don't know that there is a particular number that means your addicted. I know I smoked for 7 years, but for a long time only had one a day. I was addicted though. I would say instead of a number qualifiying an addiction, it would be your reaction to smoking. If you NEED to smoke whenever you're stressed etc, then you're addicted. If your attitude is affected by whether you smoke or not, you're probably addicted.

Different people have different tolerances for substances like nicotine, alcohol, etc. There are people who are susceptible to becoming addicted to almost anything, for them it might not take more than 3 or 4 cigarettes before they find themselves at least dependent on the nicotine, if not out and out addicted. On the other hand, as someone else said, some people can smoke an occasional cigarette and never develop an addiction. It's a habit that has no good side, though, so if you haven't started, please don't. There's no way to know how your system will respond.

I don't know, that all depends on your intentions, if you want to be addcted to cigarettes, then 1, if you're trying to smoke but not become addicted, that doesn't work unless you smoke just one and then quit, I myself have never became addicted and I can smoke half to one cigarette at a time on the weekends once in a while and catch a nice buzz for a few minutes

It is impossible to tell. Don't forget it is all in your mind. Someone with strong mind can quit without any aids (no gum, no patch no ecig). Some people take a long time and keep on sneaking a few cigs once in a while. It is impossible to tell how long it will take. If you have been smoking for a long time, don't go nicotine free right away. You will get cold turkey. Slowly decrease the amount of nicotine in you ecig until you reach zero will be easier.

It does not have to do with the amount of cigarettes, but more of how long you smoke them for.You can smoke them for a month and decide to quit because you are not addicted. You just wanted to smoke because you thought it was cool. When you become dependant on them for comfort, then you are a addict.I know because I am one.I am 23 and it is a very disgusting habit.I quit for a year last year and the next time I have the will to quit it will be for good.

Two: The first one causes a coughing fit, scours your lungs and turns you blue in the face - if that isn't enough to stop you, you'll take a second cigarette -'just to see if the same happens' is the usual excuse - and THAT's the one that gets you!
Been smoking on and off for longer than I care to think about...
