I would recommend getting some spyware/adware help :)
These are some options you can choose to do:
1> Scan your computer for spyware/adware using a free software from Microsoft called Windows Defender: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
> Use Windows Update to make sure you have the latest Internet Explorer security updates: http://www.windowsupdate.com
> You can download the latest version of Internet Explorer, it's the new version, fast, clean and secure:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx?mg_ID=10010
Or, download Mozilla FireFox:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Good luck and I hope it helps you :)

It was better if you have told how do you you connect to internet (Dialup/ DSL/Satellite), what is your windows operating system and what version of Internet explorer are you using.
As general maintenance you can follow these steps: -
Open Intenet Explorer
Tools
Internet Options
Delete Files also Delete Cookies
Click OK
now click on Programs
Reset Web Settings
Uncheck the box that says "Also Reset My Home Page"
Click YES
a message should appear saying "your seetings have been reset to default".
Close IE and reopen, It normally works.
The problem you have mentioned normally occurs when you are using a connection with slower speed like a dial up fax modem etc. In that case, try connecting with your ISP through an alternate phone number, or if you have another ISP, dial them and see if the speed improves.
Good luck!!

Internet Explorer sucks. I have the freeze up problem with mine also. Try going to www.mozilla.com, and download Firefox. It works much better than IE...

Uninstall and reinstall the internet explorer. Use your XP disk to reload it. Also use adaware or spybot to check for spyware. Once you reinstall IE, get the latest update for it.
Or you could scrap IE and go with Firefox.

sounds like spyware, go to www.majorgeeks.com and download anti-spyware. the second option (also the better option) is to download firefox, it's faster, more secured, and it has tabbed browsing, you can even customize your skin. go to www.mozilla.com/firefox and download it, just install all the plug ins, and it'll work better than IE.
