It seems like the problem should look like this:

8(n+6)=4(6-n)

Then to solve it: distribute

8n + 48 = 24 - 4n

Now just put the like things on the same side of the equation:

8n + 4n = 24 - 48

Solve:

12n = -24

n = -24/12

n = -2

8(-2 + 6)=4(6+2)
32=32
