From what the Vet told my friend...
Beta fish cannot be with anything else. They kill everything or get killed.
Wonder how they are still around? lol
Good luck!

Yes one male Betta fish can be keep with mollies if the tank is large enough and there are places for the fish to hide. In my experience the mollies may "peck" on the male Betta's fins. Mollies are brackish water fish and do better with 1 teaspoon of salt added to each 5 gallons of water. I like swordtails, platties, zebra dianos, and tetras. Remeber to keep in mind the size of the fish a 1/2 neon tetra is a snack for a 2 inch mollie. For show I like a Tank with neon tetras and zebra danios. The neon's will school at the bottom of the tank and the zebras will school at the top.

Mollies can sometimes live with bettas. It depends on the personality of the betta. I had one that mingled just fine with mollies and neon tetras, and I had another that killed everything that moved
Bettas, though, prefer smaller tanks or enclosed spaces, whereas mollies may prefer to be in the open more. If you're going to mix the two, make sure that you have a space for the Betta to lurk rather than being exposed, like a ceramic ship and/or lots of plant life.

LISTEN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bettas are good fish. They CAN live with outher fish as long as the other fish don't have fan tails. I have had 10 gallon tanks with all kinds of fish and they lived with bettas. I had a male and 2 females. They did fine with the mollies and Cory cats that were there with them.

Back in NY i had a 50 gallon tank and i had two Betta fish in the same tank as well as mollies and other fish as well. They all got along as long as their was enough room for everyone. the betta fish stayed on opposite sides and the mollies went everywhere. there was no fighting. again, make sure your tank is big enough.

In a large enough tank (29+gallons), there should be no problems unless you have an individual betta that is hyper-aggressive. By the way, saying that bettas PREFER smaller tanks is a LIE, because the whole "bettas live in puddles in the wild" statement doesn't mean they prefer small areas, it means that they have the ability and toughness to survive such harsh conditions in the wild.

I'm thinking your Betta will eat a neon tetra that gets close.
In your community tank, your Betta will want to have plants near the surface to hang out in.
...and remember, only one Betta per tank!

I'd suggest getting into PLANTs
I knew some people once who had really neat aquaculture gardens, it was the talk of the town... and they did not have to deal with any bad KARMA because of "fish abuse"
I myself was once ignorant and I did not see clearly, even after I stopped eating animal products, well I had some "block" in my head...and well I am guilty of "fish in a tank abuse".
