Why do you like to blame EVERYTHING in the world that your people did on everyone other than your people?

By doing this you could not make such statements as "Africans sold other African into slavery" because they believe that this put 400 years of OPPRESSION all on the Africans. But what they do not tell you that they took a 3 month trip to the African coast to FORCE Africans to sell with their guns and if they didn't they would kill the chiefs or make them a slave theirself. But they want you to think the "Africans" was hell-bent on selling other blacks into slavery.

Olaudah say his people said that "They gave me to understand we were to be carried to these white people's country to work for them..." notice he just said work, not oppress, beaten, whip or kill just to work.

Olaudah also said:"... the white people looked and acted, as I thought, in so savage a manner; for I had never seen among ANY people such instances of brutal cruelty..."

They want you to believe that the "Africans" were the emenies and that should override the crimes that the white race did for over 400 years. When their forefather broke their agreement if they was going to work for whites they should just work for whites. But the "Africans" nor Black slaves never encorage the explotations, cruel treament, murders on a mass scale, lynching, rapes, oppression and burdens of Blacks. All of this was done by white Amercians not by people thousands of miles away.

THAT LIKE ME LEGALLY SELLING YOU A GUN AND YOU KILL PEOPLE WITH IT. THE SELL WAS NOT THE PROBLEM THE KILLING, LYNCHING, OPPRESSION WAS. And we would just like to remind you that this it who to blame those people known As Americans, Americans didn't have to buy or Americans didn't have to keep them as slaves no one force America to do anything now did they?

The truth is some black people were bought and some were kidnapped.

The ones that were bought were sold by other ethnic groups. Meaning that they wouldn't sell their own people. They sold prisoners of war. This was actually a common practice back then. Even in Europe, if a person was captured in war, the person's family would have the ability to buy them back. If they could not purchase their loved ones then in some cases they would have to work as slaves until they were allowed to go home (kind of like indentured servants)

So going back to your question. I don't know if my ancestors were sold or kidnapped. But if they were sold, I can't be mad at them, it wasn't there fault.

If they were kidnapped, then I can't blame white people because they were doing what they had to do to survive. I'm not a slave anymore, in mind or circumstance. No need to live in the past.

I have actually lived in Africa and am Liberian. My family decided to go back to Africa in the late 1800's when there was a movement to send African's back to Africa. I know that African Americans feel different than African b/c they stayed here and endured a lot of racism. That is not my reality. I also studied African history and have extensive knowledge concerning the subject matter. I know all the world views and the truth.

Some of you may not even know this but the origin of the modern time slave trade was not in Africa. It started in Eastern Europe. (obviously the enslavement of Jewish people in Egypt was way before this so I am referring to the time prior to the emergence of the Ottoman Empire). The original slaves in the slave trade were Slavs, hence the name slaves. Prior to this the word bondage was used. When the Ottoman Empire emerged they cut through the slave trade routes. Europeans now needed a new source of labor and they had a clear path into Africa. ALL AFRICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT THE SAME!!!!! Much like Europeans. They speak different languages and have different cultures. Why wouldn't you sell a prisoner of war if they did not belong to your people? You would be foolish for not taking the money. If an Italian had the opportunity to sell a German, for tons of money, why wouldn't they? They might be from the same continent but they are not from the same country or ethnic group.

I hope this dispels some myths.

P.S. Most countries treat their people like crap. It just depends on the severity and what they can get away with.

I don't blame anybody anymore, it's pointless. I have white friends and how can I blame them for something done long before they were born.
But if I absolutely HAD to point the finger, then yes, I would point it at the Europeans of that time. Even if the Africans of that time had not sold their own people, I still believe the Europeans would have taken them by force anyway-it was done in some places anyway. Had they not wanted a product, there would have been nothing to sell. But we can't assume but so much in these days, since no one really knows who started what and what really happened. In any event, it's wrong to sell or purchase another human being-regardless of the circumstances. (Anyone seen 'Memoirs of a Geisha'?)

I blame all parties involved. Don't you think a the person who chooses to enslave another human being is just as guilty as the one who sells that human being? Don't think for a moment that if the African said no, whites wouldn’t have just taken them by force.

If memory serves me correctly, it was the Arabs in Africa who had something to do with the selling of the Africans who would not convert to Islam, and conquered soldiers. However, think about it, the European had guns and he who has the most guns rule the world. It is as basic as that. The Africans were no match for a bullet; nobody is that fast.

African was minding its own business and doing very well before it was invaded and raped by the Arabs and European nations who basically got rich and left Africa poor. There were not the massive problems that are there today until those that invaded left it in disarray.

You bring up a point that is rarely discussed in the topic of slavery. Yes, most slaves were captured by rival tribes and then sold into slavery to the white people. It was a business. American slavery probably would not have been successful without the help of the native Africans.

That doesn't excuse the behavior of the white people once they got the black people on the ships and plantations.

Better check your history book, or rather, learn how to read. Europeans enslaved African people. The Africans did not go of their own volition. Nor did other Africans sell them. The Europeans took them by FORCE.

No we don't. (Personally I dont blame anybody, I rather live here than in Africa) But most of us forget that the ruler/king/whatever he was of Africa sold our ancestors for money. And it wasn't just America, it was in all of the countries in Latin America. And I never met a black from any latin american country complaining about the slavery that was there.

I don't really blame them, but I do agree that they were responsible to a certain extent, and slavery does still exist in some African countries to this day. We don't like to talk about it because it is still too painful.

Triangle Trade Colonies Africa and West Indies Egged on the idea for Rum Sweet Potatoes Sugar Cane and Beads.
The Dum Idea The Chiefs in Africa would sell members of their tribe for Rum. The ability to trick them and when slavery was mentioned and the trade stopped. Great force was shown and good people were trapped and captured with nets. I watch Roots by Alex Haley and we do not blame the ancestors. The fact forced not ever to speak our language or use our true names made slaves look as animals. Never respected because of the color of our skin. Now in many colors... we cant class ourselves still. Yes we have to accept every color we come in durring slavery having one try to read or free ourselves the whips and chains. I thought of Not eating if it was me on a outing to Uncle Tom's Cabin Josiah Henson in Dresdon Canada
I was shown the tools used to pry your mouth open to pour milk down our throats and to force us to live even when the choice was to wither away and die. For the loss of our heritage and the beatings and lynchings we blame Africa and Europe and take the loss and try to rise to intelegence in spite of Hip Hop Rap persona that we have arrived We still have a long way to go on forgiveness. First to forgive ourselves for being so backwards and try to look forward to the idea of being recognised as a nation united and not divided and beaten just for the color of our skin. It happened for a reason. Whos to Blame.
