If they can't afford it, then maybe it's not such a good idea. That's the wrong way to spend when you are on a budget.
Try renting the dresses instead of buying. Get friends to help with hair and makeup instead of a professional. Borrow jewelry, don't buy new. There are a million ways to save money when you look. This shouldn't cost thousands of dollars just to make your niece happy.
You won't have much luck getting money from people for nothing on the internet. EBay has donation listings that you can offer for people to donate a dollar at a time, or actually sell something that you don't use anymore. Look in your attic or basement. I'm sure you've got some old junk just lying around. Have a yard sale/bake sale. Take up donations in your local community and church. Try anything, be creative. Make some crafts and sell them. Do whatever you are best at.
People won't spend money for nothing on the internet like this.
