Those side effects did not happen to me personally, but I have known several people who could not tolerate Prozac. I actually tolerate it pretty well. But, as with all anti-depressant drugs, etc., you need to realize that each medicine will have a different effect on each person who takes it. So, Prozac may not have been for you, but there most likely is one out there that you will be able to tolerate. I do not recommend that you try paxil. Of course I am not a doctor, this is a personal recommendation. The reason being that I have seen many people including myself gain a LOT of weight because of it. However, it is a very good drug if you are needing help with emotions. It depends on how bad you feel you need the help. But, give the doctor some time to find the right medication for you if you are going to persue that route.
Just always remember as well, that medicines are only there to HELP, not to create a wonder pill that will fix all of your emotional problems. The only way ANY counseling and medication combination will work, is if you want them to work and you work hard at soul searching within yourself. Believe me, the mind is very complex, the answer you are looking for lies within you, and all a counselor can do is help you get that answer to come out so that you can see it and put it to good use. =) Good luck.

My son takes Lexapro & it works wonders for him. He has had some of the same side effects on Prozac that you mentioned.
Good Luck, Marilyn

I tried nearly all of the prescription anti-depressants on the market several years ago when I was going through my divorce and every single one of them led to unpleasant side effects - everything from dizziness, insomnia, extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, increase in appetite and strangely enough bruxism (jaw clenching and teeth grinding)
I finally tried an herbal alternative called St. John's Wort...it worked wonders for me without any side effects. This may not be the case for everyone, but it may be worth a try...

im on prozac, haven't lost weight, im on it because of my mood swings, it didn't cause them, every medicine effects people differently, just remember we're not the crazy ones, it's the "normal" people we have to worry about
