I'm about a week away from starting my period, and I think I have some kind of infection. It's kind of like an infection I had last year, which my gyno said was vaginitis. At the time, I was wearing only thongs, so after getting it twice more that same year, I started wearing cotton underwear. But since then, I keep getting this infection. I've probably had it six or seven times in the past two years, and it's really starting to worry me. I have no health insurance and can't see the gyno right now. So... does anyone know what this might be? Basically, it burns around my vagina when I wipe. There's a bit of very red blood, like the exterior of it is bleeding, but not very much at all. Then also when I wipe, there's a little discharge and the discharge has stringly looking pinksih stuff in it (blood?). Sometimes it will bleed a little more, so I'll have a small spot on my underwear, but mostly just when I wipe. (Sorry- hope this wasn't too gross). P.S.- I'm 22, only one partner, ever.

My boyfriend is definitely not unfaithful. We live and work together, so I'd know. BUT he did do everything but sex with two previous girls, and I think one of them might have done everything but sex with other people. Could he have gotten an STD during oral sex? (Trust me, he was a virgin until we had sex; he had no reason to lie- I didn't expect him to be a virgin or anything). Basically, do you guys think it's more likely vaginitis or an STD? Based on the symptoms. How likely is it that vaginitis would make you have blood like stuff?

If it hurts when you wipe, my first guess might be an irritated UTI. It's also possible you may have a lesion that is causing the bleeding.
If you're unable to afford to go to the doctor, I'd recommend douching 3/4 times a week with viegar and water, (1/4 vinegar, 3/4 water) which will not hurt anything, and drinking a lot of cranapple juice.

Go to your gynecologist and have her test you...again. I had this happen to me a few months back and she originally thought it was STD, but I assured her it wasn't. She then did a few tests and the results came back that I had a yeast infection - but a BACTERIAL yeast infection which needs to be treated different from the normal yeast infections that women normally get. I was given an antibiotic gel that needed to be inserted twice a day for five days. Unfortunately, I let the infection go so long (since I thought it was a yeast infection and got my GP to give me the one-day pill) that I had to go back, be retested when it didn't totally clear up and I had developed tiny"bumps" that were bleeding this time on the outside of my vaginal wall as well. Again, she tested me and found that the bacterial infection was still present and again I was prescribed the vaginal antibiotic gel to be inserted for another 5 days. After it got a little better, and the bleeding pretty much subsided, I was told to keep it clean and dry and "aired out" as much as possible. It finally cleared up and I am finally relieved. Hopefully this is all that's wrong with you so you should see your gynecologist as soon as possible to avoid it getting as advanced as it was with me. Good Luck!!

It really sounds like you still have vaginits: The symptoms that many women experience include:
* Dysuria, pain or burning during urination. The infection, particularly in the urethra, may make urination painful.
* Intense or frequent urges to urinate. This may occur even if there is little urine to pass. Bladder infection can make you feel that your bladder is very full when it is not.
* Dyspareunia, pain during sexual intercourse. Because of the close relation of the urinary tract and sexual organs, an infection in the urinary tract can sometimes make intercourse painful.
* Other pain. Pain may also occur elsewhere. In particular, your lower back, pelvic area or abdomen may hurt.
* Abnormal urine. Your urine may be dark, cloudy or bloody. It may not smell right. This is due to the presence of bacteria.
you can get lots of information on treating vaginitis at iVillage. Check out http://health.ivillage.com/bv/bvvaginalinf/0,,hco_93d1pc6r,00.html for vaginits prevention tips and http://health.ivillage.com/bv/bvvaginalinf/0,,hco_93d24tgs,00.html for treatment options
good luck, and feel better!

Some people recommend using natural yogurt to soothe any irritation down there. Look it up on the net to confirm, also try over the counter thrush treatment and see if it helps. What do you use to wash down below. Do not use perfumed soaps as they disturb the natural bacterial load you normally carry. Don't be afraid. I'm in th UK and here we have free wellwomen clinics do you have any where you are , you could try them for help. Good luck....

my advise is to go to a planned parenthood drink cranberrry juice it will help to avoid the burning and about the infection you will need antibiotics. tell your bf to use condoms??? good luck and hope you feel better!

I dont know but I dated a guy with diabetes and when we had sex or he touched me (always with condoms) i got my only ever yeast infections. I got rid of him. I also started getting hemmoroids after wearing thongs, I refuse to use them anymore. If you dont want VBL get Hanes miracle panty 2 packs at walmart. Theyre so small and thin out of the pack theyre the size of a toddlers underwear, but they stretch.

No I have no clue what must be happening, yet you should work out yet another well being care professional if the only you asked mentioned "now and back that in simple terms happens." does not sound like an exceedingly sturdy well being care professional to me.
