Every time I start reading literature I get really bored, in that way I can't understand anything.

Make a study schedule. Read (and highlight) for fifteen minutes and then take a five-minute break. Repeat four times and you will have studied for an hour. Do something useful during the break, like making a cup of tea. Also, consider studying somewhere with no distractions, like at the library. Another good idea is to read with a friend, so you can both make sure the other doesn't get distracted!

If you're studying more than one thing, then alternate between one topic and the other so you get some variety and don't get as easily bored with one topic. It's been studied and found that you usually can only study and actually gain anything from what you're reading for a certain amount of time, I think the # was about 20-30 minutes? So read for that long, take a short break - have a snack, watch tv, and then go back to reading so you can keep it less dull and repetitive! Hope that helps!!

study something you are interested in. (even then you may have to get thru some boring parts, but at least you can see the reward in the not so distant distance). For literature you could try answering the question "why do other people think this stuff is so great?" It's a puzzle. I bet you can figure it out.

Study with someone, do little pop quizes to make sure your getting everything your studing. Listen to soft music in the backround to help keep u calm. Read out loud and if you didnt understand completely what you read in a paragraph read it again until it clicks. You have to stay focused and make sure ur comprehending everything your reading.

You can't.
I feel your pain.
Literature can be long and twisted--- (I am reading Thoreau's Walden right now about his 2 years living at a pond, comparing it to our world. "Simplicity, simplicity... our life is frittered away by details"---- well yeah, with books like this one ^_^)
Also reading Moby Dick--- why do we ordinary humans need to learn all the ship terms and all... it veils the true meaning... he goes on and on about the ship...

The only motivation is good grades and euphoria after you see the A+ on the test. Also: Harvard ^_^ (not that I want to get there).

Perhaps you should list down why literature makes you bored and provide yourself with written solutions for all those issues.

Turn everything off, put the question and answers on flash cards and give yourself a treat for every question you answer correctly

my suggestion would be to take a little break after each session .the session should not exceed one hour. the break should be for ten minutes . the said ten minutes can be utilised to hear music and for some relaxation exercises
