It will depend on the person and on how long you go between periods. In other words, if you have a regular 28-30 day cycle, you're more likely to have a period that lasts 4-7 days, whereas if you have a protracted (40+ days) or extremely irregular cycle (one period every 2-3 months) you're likely to have a 10+ day period.
Also certain external factors may effect this: the Pill will shorten & lighten it, while an IUD will extend your period, give you heavier bleeding and even more severe cramps. The shot boasts a high rate of women who stop having periods all together within 18 months of use.
Stress or anxiety will often delay your period and make it more uncomfortable too.

Everyone is different... the average is 4 to 7 days, but some last more and some less. If it last more than 2 weeks, then it is time to seek a doctor for a check up. I know that may seem intimidating to you, but sometimes it is necessary.
I hope this helps you and good luck!

Well the first two years are pretty speratic. You can get your period and 3 days after it ends an new one begins. the best way of knowing what to expect is to talk to your mom or an older sister to see what theirs was or is like. Try keeping a period calender marking how many days each one lasted, how light or heavy it was, along with wether you got crabby or got cramps. This can help you to know what to expect.

It really depends on the person, but I think the average time is probably anywhere from 4-8 days. If it lasts for more than a week and a half, you might want to see a doctor.

It really depends on the individual. Some are short and some are long. If you are in your first year of having periods, you can be all over the place.

It should last approximately 5 days although women vary greatly and so yours could be longer or shorter than that. If it goes on longer than 7-9 days, I would consult a physician. Even if it is not a medical problem, if you find it troublesome, oral contraception could help to regulate it and make it more reasonable.
