Well blog is an abbreviation for "weblog".

A weblog (or blog) is like an online journal. It's a type of website where entries are made (such as in a journal or diary).

Blogs often provide news on a certain subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries.

A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual although many focus on photograph, videos, or audio.

Well I hope I've helped =)!

Basically a blog an online diary. Often times it's designed so that people can leave comments, post pictures and other things in addition to the diary entries. It's become a popular thing to do online. The act of creating a blog is known as "Blogging".

good examples of blog sites are livejournal and xanga.

A weblog, which is usually shortened to blog, is a type of website where entries are made (such as in a journal or diary), displayed in a reverse chronological order.

Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual although many focus on photograph (photoblog), videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting).

The word blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

A BLOG is where you post things about yourself on the internet but it isn't the main page of your website, rather it is a small place aside from it but linked to it. Kind of like guestbooks and discussion boards were in the past except now you are the only one who creates new topics on it and you may set it so others may respond to items you post or not. You can use it as an online diary just for yourself, or to share with certain friends or all of your friends or the whole world who happens to look at it. An easy way to make a blog is at http://www.myspace.com/ because they code it up for you very easily.

Blog is short for "web log", a technical term for a journal you write online. (Think "captain's log" for a comparison.) Most Internet Service Providers offers a free service for you to do this and add your own pictures as well to your entries. But you can write and say whatever you want in them, and you also have the option of visitors to your log reading your entries.

And this is not a "silly" question. We never learn anything unless we ask questions. Have a great day, and good luck starting your blog!
