Whatever happened to channel 1?

I keep forgetting the explanations as to why there's no channel 1. Can someone refresh my memory? Thanks. :)

When y'all turn on the TV, you notice that there's a channel 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. but no channel 1. I heard this problem dated back to the 50s during the early years of television but I'm not sure.

uhh, for my cable company...we have channel 1

cox communication, it is just a channel for previews of movies.

i don't know why there isn't a channel one. i guess it will remain a mystery.
