Your mom probably wants you to tell her stuff. Just sit her down and say ''mom, i want to talk to you about something very personal.'' I am sure she will be understanding. Let her know you have came to her because you trust her and look up to her. She will be glad you did!

I am going to answer this from a mothers perspective in hopes of helping you out. You see, sometimes mothers seem so distant. This is because a mother wants to give you your space and also because they grew up in a different world than you did. You have to share with your mother what you are going through or she wont know, and it will make the distance even worse. (Ex. if you have a puppy you never talk to, do you think the puppy will understand what you want or need?)
The best way to talk to you mother is to wait until you are sitting down somewhere, and all is quiet. Look at her and tell her you love her. She will reply with "I love you too," then go on with, "Mom, I really need to talk to you about ." Explain that whatever the topic is you have chosen that you may have made a mistake, or that you feel you have made a great choice and tell her why.
Mother's can't do a very good job if you don't talk to them, give her a chance to be the very best parent in the world. If she feels that you are confiding in her, she will be more accepting of the things you are going through and will be more supportive for you.
Good luck to you! I hope this helps you!

Find a time when the two of you are alone and have some time to talk. Say I need to talk to you about something personal. She will understand and will be thankful that you came to her.

Bring up the subject as a joke, like when your watching t.v. or something , so that your talking about an important subject but not taking it so seriously, so that your both comfortable.

Sit down with her one evening and just talk, she will be so proud that she has an awesome, open relationship with her daughter.Or if you feel uncomfortable talking to her about certain things cause you think she will get mad try having a counselor with you ,this person can give you some moral support.

Dear Rose, it all depends on your relationship with your mother. Generally, choose a time when she's not busy and she is in a good mood. Start by saying a little piece of news about yourself. See her reaction and start from there.

Just talk to her. There's nothing that you're going to ask that she hasn't gone through.
Just sit her down and say "Mom, I need to talk to you about something..."
