If I were stranded on a desert island there must be some H2O around so I would rather have Glucose or something that would provide me with strength....
And by the way salty-p that is di-hydrogen monoxide not hydrogen oxide....

One chemical. Too bad it can't be a chemical solution or I'd pick some sort of hypotonic sports drink with vitamins and mineral in such low concentration compared to the water, that it would hydrate you, but still you'd be getting some glucose for energy, your essential amino and fatty acids and other compounds in order to survive.
But if I have to pick one compound I'd go with H2O since it's a desert island and I probably won't be getting much water, and I can always eat fish for energy, and maybe plants.

Water but if it was abundant already, then I would choose ecamsule, C28H34S2O8. This is a sunblock known as Mexoryl.
