My two all time favorite movies and they're both comedies, Annie Hall (don't watch if you don't like Woody Allen) and High Fidelity. The Weather Man is also great if you don't mind a sort of negative comedy. If you haven't seen Amelie....you neeeedddddd to see that. Also, in my opinion, anything Wes Anderson is wonderful. Although everyone likes "The Life Aquatic", I recommend starting off with his "Rushmore" which is really his masterpiece.

The Big Lebowski, or Bottle Rocket. Someone said Rushmore was Wes Anderson's masterpiece. On the contrary Bottle Rocket is the best of all his movies, and his most coveted.

"Young Frankenstein" is hilarious
"Witness For The Prosecution" though not a comedy it will make you laugh at times & it has the BESt ending to ANY film I have Ever watched.
"Junebug" was pretty good as well
