Probslvr's right, but in addition, talk to someone at your university. They'll have a teaching or certification office on campus. Someone there will know right off what the certification requirements are for your area... plus they'll have access to your records so they'll be able to tell you what you've got, what you'll need, and be able to help you get it.

at this point you could probably smile nice and show them your degree - schools are desperate for teachers with a background in science. take the advice given here about checking on your state's dep't of ed website and your university. you will have to take some education classes, but depending where and what level you want to teach, you may be able to complete those requirements while teaching. however, i recommend you get some training or experience with kids before stepping into your own classroom.

or try teach for america.

or try a state-sponsored program like the new york teaching fellows program. i don't know what other states offer such programs, so it would take some research.

Check with your state's department of education certification requirements. These can usually be found on their web site. To get a specific answer as to courses you might need, you can apply for a teacher's certificate. Your application will be reviewed and you will be given clear (hopefully) steps to certification.

Many states also offer "alternative" routes to certif. especially for shortage areas - science being one of these.
