I have a scorecard that was purchased at old Crosley Field, and due to the fact that the original owner scored the game in pencil, I have been able to trace it to the second game of a doubleheader played vs. Philadelphia on May 26, 1963. I this particular game, Pete Rose batted and struck out 4 consecutive times. In other words, he played the entire game without ever putting the ball in play while batting. After looking up his career stats and then doing some math, I learned that Rose struck out an average just 8 times for every 100 times he batted. Rose was the ultimate contact hitter. For him to have struck out 4 times in a row in the same game almost has to be a one time thing. Does anybody know how I can check this out? I tried googling it, but had no success. Thanks.

I assure you this is a rare event. Unfortunately, however, I doubt this scorecard has much value. But if you're curious if this has ever happened before, I would check some Baseball Statistic Blogs. And post your question there. There are some serious baseball bloggers around there who have purchased some intense database programs. You can find these database programs, but they are VERY expensive. They are the same programs announcers have available to them while they broadcast games, they can search by lots of different criteria, even create their own criteria, like how many times did pete rose strike out 4 times in one game, or how many times did pete rose not put the ball in play in one game, or things like that.

Here is the box score:

Rose went 0-4 in the game.
It doesn't specifically say that Rose struck out, but Ray Culp, the Phillie's pitcher had 12 strikeouts that game, so it's highly likely Rose did strikeout several times, probably all 4. This was Rose's rookie year, so his hitting peak was not yet reached. He batted .273 that year.

While from a fan's perspective it's great to see the scorecard filled out so you can trace it to a specific game, from a collector's standpoint your item loses value. Collectors want things as close to new as possible. Having the scorecard filled out ruins the newness of the item and therefore it loses value. You might want to get an edition of Sports Collectors Digest, there are usually some sources there to help you determine the value of your scorecard.

No to each. one million. Parents can and do subject their children. I do not feel it is unlawful or immoral wherever for a mum or dad to supply their children a swat at the butt. But there's study displaying the extra violence is used on a baby, the extra violent they'll be. Virtually each and every mass assassin grew up in a bodily abusive residence. two. You suppose killing any person beautiful flippantly, do not you. You would not be so informal approximately it if it had been your son, brother, dad, or your self. I do not doubt that we (the State) have killed blameless humans. Just the final few years there were validated situations of state crime labs falsifying or withholding "proof" to aid the prosecution. There definitely demands to be tests and balances and possibilities for humans to end up their innocence. What we ought to do is quit looking to impose our ethical values on each person else. Republicans obtained legislation handed locking judges into lengthy sentences for beautiful minor crimes. And now our jails are complete. If it does not harm anybody else, it should not be a criminal offense. And judges will have to be capable to set the sentence they suppose suits the crime, no longer one imposed by way of the federal government.
