For me I think it was when Mark Martin thought he won the race, but caution had come out, he was already on his way to winners circle before he realized what happened! Poor guy, gotta like him, he was such a good sport about it!

Sorry, I should've stated comical, rather than classic, oh well...we'll see where this goes as it is!

I agree Sr.'s death was he most classic in a tragic sense!

A few years back, can't quite remember what year it was. There was an accident involving Ricky Rudd, the race was red flagged. As we all know means the cars stop where they are and wait for the clean-up crew to do it's job. Well, Ricky Rudd's front fender had been damaged in the crash, it was rubbing against the front tire. So....with all the camera's on him, he jumps out of his car (red flag still) and runs up to the front fender and begins pulling on it. OMG! It was hysterical, the commentators didn't know what to say they jsut kept laughing, then the Nascar officials came running over and when he saw them coming he jumped back in threw his window acting like nothing happened. It great he was being all sneaky, like no one could see him - HELLO???? Funny, funny!

I honestly don't remember what his penalty was. It was funny.

Sterling Marlin tried to pull a fast one at Daytona. I don't recall the year of the race, but the race was red flagged toward the end. Sterling had gotten into somebody and had hit his left front. Well, during the red flag, he jumped out of the car and starting working on the fender. The NASCAR Official was right there, however, and told him to stop. Well, they penalized him for working on the car under the red and made him start at the back of the longest line with only a few laps left.

Needless to say, he wouldn't have been able to continue so he probably didn't lose positions in the long run. The field would have passed him by had he left it alone and tried to race with it like that.

The most memorable moment was when Dale "the intimidator" Earnheardt died at the daytona 500. That was the saddest moment in Nascar history to see the greatest racer go.

When my husband and I were in Daytona in 2001 and watched the wreck with Dale Sr. We were screaming because Michael and Dale jr. were 1st and 2nd. We both thought Dale Sr. would be ok but later found out different....sad day that neither of us will ever forget...

For me it was Dale Earnhardt Sr flipping off other drivers at Daytona, just before he crashed and burned.

I'm a Jeffy fan and even I laughed when he tried to go get all tough with Kenseth with his helmet still on. It took the seriousness right out of it and made it so funny to see.
