A close friend, who is also nurse, says that the risk of your baby being infected is low, provided that your doctor is aware of your condition. If you have an outbreak at the time of your delivery, your doctor will give you a C-Section rather than risk infection through vaginal birth.

I have a good friend who has herpes, and she had to deliver her son via c-section. He's fine. I don't think you can give birth vaginally if you have herpes. Even if you're not broken out, the virus can still get into your baby's eyes and cause some pretty bad problems.

I've been prego and am currently prego with my second. I do not have genital herpes, but the bestthing to do is talk to your OB. I'm not sure if you will pass it on to your kid through blood, but I think they usually do a c section on those that do to prevent it from being spread. Good luck!

I know two people who have delivered between them four babies all healthy. If you have an outbreak during delivery, they will have to do a cesarean, but besides that everything should be fine. Don't worry, there is nothing to worry about.

It's very possible. Be sure your OB knows that you have the infection. If there is an active outbreak while you are in labor, they can do a C-Section so the baby doesn't have contact.

I haven't personally been in that situation, but some of my pregnancy books say that it is okay and it should not affect the child, even during labor.
