I have a UTI and am taking macrobid. I was wondering if I can do a home pregnancy test while I have a UTI. I know the insert in the package says that taking antibiotics will NOT effect the outcome of the test so that's not my concern. But the fact I have a UTI?? Thanks. I can wait a few more days if I must.

Take your pregnancy test. A pregnancy test is looking for HCG, Human Choriogonadotropin Hormone, which will be present if you are pregnant...whether or not you have a UTI. Just keep in mind that a blood pregnancy test is far more accurate. Why not just call your gyn and ask him/her to order one for you. If you get a negative on a home pregnancy test and still don't have your period in another week, run it again. It often takes longer for the hormone to be at a level high enough to be detected in urine. The blood test is far more sensitive.

Pregnancy assessments do not assess for blood in urine. If you might have blood on your urine, that's now not well!! The assessments assess for the presence of being pregnant hormones on your urine. So no, a UTI won't impact the experiment.
