Is there anybody else who has the money or military power and will to enforce a desired outcome. Down the ages there have been conquerors who have rod roughshod over the world with their all consuming ambition. Would you choose a Genghis Khan or maybe some religious tyrant seeking to convert everyone at the point of a sword, maybe an Adolf Hitler or some ruthless Japanese general ? What about some crazy Middle Eastern tyrant, maybe like the Libyan Gaddhafi or a Saddam Hussain or how about the North Korean dictator. Is China or Russia preferable as a worlds Numero Uno super power ?

When faced with the choices, isn't the choice clear? Give me the ignorant blinkered Americans and that idotic clown Bush anyday.

The only sollution is for NATO to be the worlds policeman... and NATO is also the US, so either we have to accept out role as the hated white devils, or we have to say F*** YOU to the rest of the world and ignore the situatoins where we go in and help.

The problem is that there are simply too many problem areas for the US to be able to effectively police the world. This is why former Congressman, Secretary of State and President John Quincy Adams said " The US does not go searching for monsters to destroy" As for the UN they quoted Isaiah 2:4 on their cornerstone without reading the context. If they had bothered to do so they would understand why they have no chance of fulfilling that prophecy. Read Isaiah 2: 1-5 for the entire quote.

There is one authority recognized by every country on our planet. It is called "The United Nations". There should not be a "country" that is called the super power of the world because no matter how hard it's government tries, it will be bias towards certain nations as it is obvious in the case of USA and Israel.

Why do we need one country to enforce its ideologies to the rest of the world and ignore the ideology of the majority?

I guess not many here in the US wonder's why the hell do we have to worry about the rest of the world when we have our own major issues to deal with here at home!!

"You cannot preach what you do not practice"

Eliminate this so called "Security council" with its five permanent members who posses the power of Veto and allow one council the combines all countries and a body that can decide on issues based on the majority opinion and not the power of Veto.

The world does need a police man. Unfortunately the job is too big for any single nation. We see this in our own exploding budget deficit. We could do this if the U.N. would under write this mission like it did in the 1st gulf war we came out financially ahead. The U.N. needs a standing army nothing huge about 300,000-500,000 troops. This sounds like a lot except they would soon be spread all over the world. Especially in Africa, mid east and asia. This force would be made up of volunteers from around the world similar to the very successful french foreign legion which still exist to this day kick'n *** and taking names in the north of Africa Algeria mainly. This force should respond only to the sec-gen not the security-council this would prevent one of the big five from blocking action.

China is clearly the better choice as the leaders, especially President Hu JinTao has shown much restraint and consideration towards the US, Japan, and Russia. But with the current trends in America, it is only a matter of time before they will self-destruct from pollution, economy, rising health costs, inefficiency of federal government, war-mongering, heavy-handedness in foreign affairs, insufficient trade considerations, vested interests of the politicians, a culture based on drugs (India has been that way and what have they achieved?). International fear spawned by invasions of other nations, Japan controls the economy of the US with us spending a billion a day in Japan and them still restricting our trading with them...something got to give...and it will be the US. Learn Madarin Chinese and prepare for the future.

Apparently there are too many unaware of the impotency of the UN as a guardian, keeper of the peace or, any other function. Other than creating mandates they don't enforce. Like the 17 they sent to lraq over a period of many years.

Further, they are not very good guardians of the "Oil for Food" project, they had charge of.

How anyone can visulalize this non-functional organization, as being in charge of anything remains, a pipe dream.. It never has and there are doubts that it ever will.

Wherever Americans go, people get wealthier, happier, and live free. I don't know any dictator or Ghengis Khan that is gentler or better for the world than the Great USA.

And yes, the world needs a policeman and the US Marines can do it!

PS: The UN is already in Lebanon and Danfur where terrorists run wild and they do nothing. In the Congo the UN troops are known for raping children. I'll take the US Marines any day.

You guys are kidding yourselves. The world no longer has one nation strong enough to be it's policeman, unless it's China. They have the U.S. in their hip pocket thanks to the huge tab they hold over it. And, as far as moral leadership is concerned, the U.S. has pretty much soiled itself and other countries have begun to hold it at arms length. We are no longer "The Champions", having been sullied by nitwit cheerleaders and Neo-Con men, who have both dropped their drawers and backed up to the industial military complex in the hope that their fears will be assuaged by wealth, security and a warm pat on the rump. The U.S., under that idiotic clown, George W. Bush, has pretty much disqualified itself as a leader of nations.

Touche!

And when the world is in apocolyptic crisis someday; global draught, no more oil, nuclear winters/summers, desease, famin, you name it; The arrogant, self righteous Americans and their Neocon leadership will be the only nation, big enough, strong eough, wealthy enough, Godfearing enough to survive and save the rest of the world. There's not much that will ever change that fact.
