First, get rid of the numerator 3 by multiplying both side by 3:
2a/3 * 3 = (8+4a) * 3
2a = (8+4a) * 3
Then distribute the 3:
2a = 24 + 12a
Then substract 12a from both sides, and simplify
2a - 12a = 24 + 12a - 12a
-10a = 24
The divide both sides by -10 and simplify
-10a / -10 = 24/-10
a = -2.4

Our main objective is to get the a on one side. Right now, our barrier is the fact that its being divided by 3.
2a/3=8+4a
Multiply by 3 on both sides.
3*(2a/3) = 3*(8 + 4a)
2a = 24 + 12a
Subtract 2a from both sides
0 = 24 + 12a - 2a = 24 + 10a
Move 24 to other side and divide by 10
-24 = 10a
a = -24/10
Simplify
a = -12/5 = -2.4

first you have to mover the 3 to the pther side you therefor multiply 3(8+4a) which gives you 2a= 24+12a now you have to put the As together you therefor subtract 12a from 2a
2a-12a= -10a
you are now left with
-10a=24
to separate -10 from a you divide 24/-10 which is a fraction so you now just simplify the fraction:
24/-10= - (12/5) ( I just put the () to tell you the whole fraction is negative) I hope it helps!

Given:
2a/3 = 8+4a (x3 to both sides).
2a = 24+12a ( Subtract 2a from both sides).
0 = 24+10a ( Subtract 24 from both sides).
-24 = +10a ( ÷ both sides by 10).
a = -2∙4

2a / 3 = 8 + 4a
Multiply both sides of the equation by three to get rid of the fraction.
3(2a / 3) = 3(8 + 4a)
To multiply, cancel common factors on the left, distribute on the right.
2a = 24 + 12a
Add -12a to both sides to get the variable terms to one side.
-10a = 24
Divide both sides by (-10).
a = -2.4
Checking:
2(-2.4) / 3 = -4.8 / 3 = -1.6
8 + 4(-2.4) = 8 + -9.6 = -1.6
a = -2.4
