I came up with this question after reading on the newspaper a gang mainly composed by teens forced during 1 yr 3 girls (ages range from 11-13 y.o) to have sexual intercourse , Still they are getting away with it due to the fact they are minors, only the oldest guy (17 y.o) will get a small sentence... I would really like to read other opinions about the matter ...Mine is they should be sentenced like adults I have always said child who commits adult oriented crimes should be punished as an adult then...

I 100% agree with you. If they make the choice of commiting an illegal act such as rape to young adolescents, they should face the charges. The young girls cannot do anything about it and will live with it for the rest of their lives. The most the law can do is to punish them for commiting ADULTERATED acts. It makes no difference if the boys are younger than 18, rape is RAPE.

Children are not punished as adults because at such a young age they can be rehabilitated. This is why you don't throw 11 year olds in a state prison. They can't handle it, and when they get out, they have learned nothing and you have missed your only chance to reform them. Childrens prisons are meant to reform, adults' prisons are meant to punish.

I agree. I think the kids who get to the point of committing crimes like that aren't fixable.

With the sickening crimes they are committing today, I'd just as soon see them off the streets for good.

I totally agree. Sadly rape is hardly punished even when it is an adult who dose it - just another example of prejudice

punishment should ALWAYS reflect the severity of the crime,no matter the age of the perpetrator.
