Sure its possible, however, you better have some kind of rich backers. You do realize the military works for the government, and since the U.S. has the best military in the world, you better come up with something big to beat them. Unless of course, you managed to do it from the inside, but that would still take an unprecedented number of people working together to get it done. If I were you, I would let this thought go, because you are not going to be able to do it. Not to mention why would you? What good would a dictatorship do? Our government while it does have flaws is the best working system in the world. And we all know how those dictatorships have worked out over the years. Hitler, Mussolini, they did real well. And they were probably more hated in the world than the U.S. is today if you could believe it.

I certainly think it's possible. It's one of the reasons I'm concerned about the amount of illegal immigrants in our country and the possibility that they could all receive amnesty. You don't have to forcibly wrest the government away if you have the numbers to vote in your own candidates to change the laws and in affect, change the government from the inside out. This is a very good reason for controlled immigration that keeps a cultural/national balance among the incoming immigrant population.
I've also shuddered when I've heard people suggest that we make illegal immigrants join the military as a requirement for citizenship. The possiblities that could come from that are just scary to contemplate.

It is possible. Anything is possible. Adolf Hitler did it in Germany. You have to be able to sell an ideology to the people you want to rule. The ideology has to be a dream everyone would want and disguise the real motive of becoming a dictator. It takes real salesmanship on the part of the want to be dictator. The American people are a little to in your face to fall for a dictator regime.
