If you want an accurate protrayal of Churchill, he should be shown just as he was in real life - cigars and all. He was seen with a cigar in either his hand or his mouth, so it is a part of his enduring persona.

Even the real Winston Churchill would be stopped from smoking in a public place. Its illegal and Mel Smith is not exempt.

I don't believe that he should. We all know that Winston enjoyed a smoke so why should he not portray the leader in his true style. It is theatre after all as well-if people are so against it then they have a choice not to go and see the play

Only if you are going to make Mr Churchill 6 feet tall and 180 pounds because we have a problem with people being too fat.

Did Winston Churchill Smoke?
I don't know, but if he did then he should be portrayed EXACTLY the way he was, and EXACTLY the way he acted in real life.
FORGET the politically correct BS!!!!!!!!

Yes because it is against the law in Scotland to smoke in an enclosed public place like the theatre, and he knew this before he came here to play the part, hes an actor so he can act like hes smoking, its what hes paid for to act

Churchill was often photographed with a cigar but was it always lit?
There are other uses for them - Bill Clinton demonstrated that.
