i've set up a local network. the other computer is windows. mine got both windows & linux. can i access files on the other comp from linux? how can i mount that file system?

Try this:

mount -t smbfs -o username=tridge,password=foobar //fjall/test /data/test

-o username is the username for the windows computer, and password (no spaces between the username and password) is the password.

fjall is the name of the computer or IP address and test is the name of the share

/data/test is where you want it mounted in the filesystem.

To share files from the linux computer to the windows computer, look up samba.
