Do online personals connect you to real people?

Yeah, real people who are just as desperate as you are & probably for good reason! (Just Kidding).
What's wrong with people nowadays is that they can no longer communicate & be freindly without someone suspecting they have some nefarious agenda, people walk around our cities all day with their guard up, like some criminal or crazy person is plotting against them or something, you have to go to some small little town to get a simple "hello" from a stranger, who only wants to say "hello" and go about his merry way. Now days if you speak freely to anyone around you, you just might be labeled a "crack pot"

I'd say they probably connect you to the same types of people as any other type of personals would. I'm sure there are some lonely people, of course. Maybe a few crazies. But I'd bet most of them are normal and just looking for someone.

I met my partner through the internet. We talked for six months online and then met up. Now, we live together and are having a baby in 5 weeks. He is the most amazing man I've ever met and I'm glad I gave the internet a try.

Also, I have three very very very good friends that I have met on the internet. The internet is just like anywhere else, plenty of great people and plenty of idiots.

Alll of that. As long as you choose the better of the personals out there ...(that normally will cost you some but worth it)...and you use a lot of common smarts and internet savvy while visiting those places..it does and can work. Many professionals these days see that as the preferred way to meet someone. BUT...just like in the real world....approach with caution...and wear your thinking cap..

I have been looking in chat rooms & personal ads for about 3 yrs.,hoping to meet a true ,moral person to have a life with.
Even in the christian singles,you have pervs who are my age ,looking for 20-35yr old young ladies!
I cannot go to a chat room without some goon asking me how big my boobs are or how do I like my sex,after about 2 minutes of nice chat!
It is a shame that this ruins it for true hearted ppl looking for a real relationship.
I don't believe any of them are any good & they all want money to get access to meet someone!

Depends on age, etc. I am a really old guy, recently divorced. Anyway, some of the people are down-to-earth good people; some are absolutely nuts. Better than meeting in a bar, and you can talk, etc. on line before you meet, so you get to know them bettter. But ... its always hit and miss.

a little of both, and some are sincere. I met my former and my current partner online. my former partner was long-distance, and there were just too many obstacles, and that didn't work out.
but my current partner emailed me after she saw my profile online. we emailed, then talked on the phone, then finally met and went out. we've been together over 2 years and lived together nearly 2 years.

I know a few people (nice people) who have met peopel oline.It is just like regular dating, you win some and you lose some.

The difference seems to be that there are less players on sights that require membership
